Intercooler and lift, did it fit?
I have an EJ20G in my RX and ive lifted just the engine subframe 2 inches make the liberty steering rack fit, and as a bonus, it has improved suspension geometry and lowered the centre of gravity, but in doing so i have come across a problem
The B4 intercooler i decided to use doesnt fit because the pitching rod bracket on the firewall is in the way. I even cut off most of the tyre holder, but it doesnt fit.
I was thinking maybe an earlier WRX (the slanty type) might fit but i dont want to go out buy one in case it doesnt. It might also help if it was a later engine with the shorter throttle body
I have a RS Lib WAIC that i will try some time this week, its just a shame i dont have the car at home.

WAIC is probably better when slugging around in difficult stuff like sand anyhow.

Yeah dimensions would be good thanks.

The side you see here as the top is 420mm max, same measure on the underside of this pic is 440mm (think it is fitted upside)
Total from outer tip of the outlet to the end of the intake 'bulb' is 265mm
the length of the cores only, between tanks is 120mm
It always worries me when I here this!ive lifted just the engine subframe 2 inches make the liberty steering rack fit, and as a bonus, it has improved suspension geometry
What about bump steer and roll center. Having lots of negative camber is not good when the roll center has been raised. If the control arms are now higher at the ball joint end this is bad.
Maby I have not understood what you have done

This pic IS the way it should sit as Fuji intended.
About 354mm between centres of the lower front mounting holes.

To be honest, i hadn't really given it a lot of thought. Somebody suggested it so i thought id give it a go
Im not going to have much negative camber, and the control arms are still lower at the ball end. They just have less angle than a standard L series.
I'll take photos and a few measurements to show how it worked out.

Thanks for the dimensions too, i'll grab the tape and compare it to the other intercooler i have.
What is the inlet pipe made of,.. plastic or alloy?
If it is gonna fit, i will be in the search for one.
If it doesnt, i might buy a small front mount intercooler and do what ToyRX did

I put the WAIC in and it just fits. I may have to just massage the tyre support a little more.

Here is a picture of how the suspension is sitting.78sti wrote:It always worries me when I here this!

Yeah i have not yet obtained the sway bar rubbers, why do the Fulcrum, Whiteline and Nolathane part numbers not match in the cross reference book?
What rubber lip spoiler? I didnt know the Oz delivered RX got one
As for the intercooler, degenerate has a point, even though i probably wont see much sand or 4wd tracks.
If I had an air to air core in there, because the engine now sits lower, i would have to fabricate a chute from the scoop to the intercooler.
My original plan was to have a WAIC, its only that the car already had a bonnet scoop and i hate having a scoop just for show.
Here are the dimensions of the WAIC
320mm front to back

80mm deep for the box, 150mm including the pipe

This shows the offset from the inlet to outlet (ignore the tape)

But i still may nab it off you, cos they are easily swappable.

Just spotted this on RSLC.org and it may be what im looking for

Its the intercooler of an 07 WRX in a Gen1 Liberty, and it appears to be wider, but shallower than any other Subaru air to air intercooler ive seen.
I'll see if i can get some dimensions to see if it will fit
