The light weight black spring is called a keeper spring, it is only any use for lowered cars with short springs. It enables you to lower the car height while still ensuring the spring remains captive when the wheel is in full droop.
Probably not needed in your application unless the platform thread does not go high enough for you to capture the spring when unloaded if you removed the keeper spring and donut.

Thanks I didn't know the name of that spring but I do understand what it does. Im thinking if there isn't enough thread to just have the spring then I might make (get made) spacers to go between the spring and the donut.

Having had enough of my forever leaking fuel filler I decided that I would remove it and fix the holes in the pipe.

I really wish I had just left it alone now :( as soon as I started to clean the metal with a wire brush on a grinder the holes appeared everywhere around the other holes.

now I need to find a filler pipe that isn't destroyed the last one I took out of a brumby had a similar problem

much rust like that anywhere else in your beast?

don't you worry Ive been thinking about LPG ever since America decided that it must control the world oil supply.

Yes there is a bit of rust sadly but Im slowly getting rid of it

Jules - a viable replacement option is to use a (galvanised I think they are) filler pipe from a circa 1988 - 89 MY Range Rover. Its the 4 door model that has the recessed filler cap and not the one with a flap/cover fitted.
The pipe near enough goes straight on ! Just have to find a rubber bottom elbow. Even has a breather in place too:D
The cap is about 1000 times better than the subie one too !:mrgreen:

Did you have any joy with the pas parts for me yet ? (or the full caboogle)

I have had a Momo steering wheel for some time now but it was for an MX5 (Mazda Miata)

I was very suprised at the difference the wheel actually makes and after driving to Perth and back last night to see Suicidal Tendancies (wooooo hoooooo) I'm extremely impressed with the way it is working.

Was thinkin' not many Rangies in wrecking yards here in Oz - full stop - worth more as scrap metal !

I should publicly add that I like the clock replacement in the dash , more the mounting method. I have started to hack away at one dash to fit an L Series tacho next to speedo - ABORT, ABORT
Another dash started to remove clock for oil pressure gauge - boxed and put aside for fiddly time years ago.

Have also thought to replace the interior fan switch somewhere else to fit a gauge in its place. Brumby is short on space to safely place gauges and be able to view easily....

Firstly let me start a competition as to guessing exactly just how many gallons of petrol will have flowed down this thing over the years ? At about 8 - 12 (best) miles to the gallon quite possibly enough to fill what was the Torre Caynon super tanker ! :mrgreen:

Climbed up into the heady heights of the garage loft earlier this evening and found the Rangie filler pipe,
so here are the images of the pipe which would work on a brumby.
BTW I Like the new ''round'' view in your office Jules - the new wheel really works !

If you cant get sorted out via Andy - there are about 10 or so suitable Rangies breaking here on ebay alone atm.
Best not part with this particular one after Dad spent ££ and hours cleaning and painting it up for me :rolleyes:
