Post by Gannon » Wed May 03, 2006 7:07 pm

I went to the local subi dealer and asked how much ea82t headgaskets would set me back........ $74 EACH 8O
And thats just the HG, doesnt include any other seals ect.
In the US they are only $25-$30

I paid $280 for complete engine kit from Subaru dealer.
Have bought about 4 of them now & initially paid $320 retail but know the guys at the dealership & give me trade price now.
Hope this helps!

I can get permaseal gaskets pretty cheap through work. Head gaskets for EA82T about 30 odd each and I think a VRS is under 200 but I'd have to check.

$280 sounds about right. I chased one up before I went the legacy route.

Thanks Ben, i'll consider that but
Im thinking that maybe i should do all the seals while i have the head off.

I went to the local parts store and an ACL VRS kit was about $250, the guy said that he has never had any troubles with acl head gaskets (not subaru) before.

Other than Genuine gaskets, what other brands are known good headgaskets for the good old ea82?

Is there a diference in gaskets between the efi and the turbo ea82s

Cheers guys

What brands do you have experience with (preferably good experiences)
I found a ACL valve grind kit on the net for $208

What should i steer clear from?

Cheers
