EA82 radiator into Brumby pics
Under construction....
Not that this is of use to many, thought may as well take some pics as I do a trial fit and mod of an LSeries EA82 radiator into my Brumby in prep for dropping an EA82 of some sort into its engine bay. Have already shifted the wiper washer bottle further back about 75mm to hopefully clear the dizzy and that part of LHS head/rocker gear, and fitted my scalloped engine crossmember with elongated engine mount bolt holes.

PIC BELOW: is of RHS lower corner where L Series radiator needs a bit more elbow room. Was easily reshaped using hammer in pic - little bigger than usual size

PIC BELOW: you will notice radiator is in loosely and you may recognise the L Series radiator neck. And notes for the curious, you will see my PCV catch can that has stopped fumey oil entering my VN Commodore V6 air filter box choking things up. Actually does not catch much at all, what it does catch leaks out the Monza catch can very slowly
. Other non gen bits are IMPCO Cobra LPG converter and 125 mixer and its bits

PIC BELOW: I cut these L Series mounting brackets off the front top of the L Rad to clear the inside top front of the Brumby - hacksaw

PIC BELOW: is of the bracket fixed to base of MY radiator that mates to the rubber on pin next to it. I cut drilled these spot welded things off an old MY radiator with 4mm drill bit so hole will also suit a rivet size. This is one spot where L's and MY's are reverse of each other. The L radiator has pins at its base to mate up with the black bracket sort of thing

PIC BELOW: no symmetry in the placement of L Series pins. The MY pins are a little too tall to stay in place, willeither completely cut off or leave a stump in case an EA81 is a necessary option later in life of this long life Brumby

PIC BELOW; the cable conduits on both sides tend to get in the way at factory mounted positions so broke clip ties that plug into holes in body and used this basic saddle clamp, took advantage of factory threaded hole in chassis. This is LHS, RHS will get one also

PIC BELOW: these cables tend to get in the way of the drain cock of L radiator and other bits bit will sit nicely when all installed.

Why go to all of this trouble when you could just have the bottom outlet port of the brumby radiator modified - it usually costs near $15 at a radiator joint. This way it slots in as factory, works with the EA82 pipe work and is easy to reverse the mod. Plus the brumby 2 core radiator would be a better long term proposition than the plastic end tank'd L series radiator...
I've gone the other-way once - out of necessity, the brumby radiator in the the L series. Got me through while I got the funds together for a new radiator - the 3 core I've got now, a bit overkill I reckon but does the job with a couple of challenges with thermo fans...
Cheers
