Parts from other countries?

Post by Silverbullet » Sun Jan 09, 2011 12:53 pm

I was just looking for some parts I wanted/needed and came across the exact things I need for a great price, but they're from the U.S. So my question is, would they fit my Australian car with no issues? I suspect they will but I wouldn't want to spend the dough, get them shipped over here and find out they're slightly different :(
Specifically I'm talking about the headlight and indicator surrounds for the M.Y, the chrome part along with the indicator lens, mine are both toast. But this questions goes for other parts as well. Obviously bits like the dashboard and headlights themselves would be different being left had drive...
Thoughts?

Cheers!

Ive sent an ea81 electronic dizzy to England it is exactly the same part. Ive bought a clutch kit from America (still in transit) for an EJ22 same parts. you just have to make sure with head light surrounds etc that you get the right ones for your model, as the single headlight model has two types a bent one and a straight one.

most parts are interchangable

Four types in fact:
1. 1980 round headlights
2. 1981 square headlights >==< grille
3. 1982 square headlights, all chrome surrounds, ==== grille
4. 1983+ square headlights, black painted chrome surrounds, honeycomb grille

Suparoo is the headlight upside down in that pic? Anyway they look the same shape, but my old ones don't have the black on them like that so they might look a bit odd?
The car is the 81' I'm on about in my sig, so like dfoyl said they are >==<
Thanks for the help guys!:)

Just be wary that exterior lights are specific to the country they are meant for, either left hand drive or right hand drive.

Have a think about the light leaving each headlight, low beam lights up for AUST as a mirror image of the US.

The other lighting also has differences.

Gary ;)

The local wrecker near me (5 minutes away) has a 1981 with a complete grille on it, if you want to stick to the original style PM me and I can have a look if they're any good.

(I don't believe the 1982 surrounds will fit a 1981 grille, so you'd need to change it over with Gannon's unit).

1980/1981 MY's are pretty thin on the ground these days.
