Importing parts
Importing parts
Hi guys,
I need some parts that are a bit hard to get here in aus from either Jap or the US. I was wandering if any of you had done this before if you could help me out.
I know some people import front cuts etc but i was after a gearbox and a diff.
would really appriciate if anyone had any info or that can help me so i can organise to get the parts shipped.
Thx
Guy

need to start with heavy items don't you !
The heavier you get the fewer freighters you seem to be able to deal with.
I priced 27kgs 16" cubed in size box a while back and well.... Marky nearly got to keep himself a paid for set of rear disc brakes! Fedex was quoting A$1100 down to $700. UPS about US$600, USPS US$350, finally in three boxes travelling side by side US$170.
WA is closer to Japan isn't it?
You almost need to contract an importer of these sort of bits to get you what you want/need

i brought a LSD from america, postage was 110 i think in the end, seemed good to me.
the best way is to get with a group of people who are buying things and have them shipped over on a pallet and you pay however much you can get away with. after i had payed and shipped the LSD i found out one of dads freinds just has a freind load a pallet with parts for old school ford f100 trucks and that i would of been able to have them thrown on the pile too
wish id known this earlier though, try that maybe?
if im needed for anything [email protected] and ill try and get back to you.

Would definately be cheaper here but its rare.
I'm after the AWD 5spd transmission out of a 1987-88 Subaru RX with high and low range, full time 4wd and a center locking differential for part time four wheeling. Would also need the shifters, center console panel with shift
boots and the switch for the center locking diff and the vacuum solenoids needed to hook it up! And would like a CLSD rear diff from the same car.
Anyone importing parts from japan or the US? i'd be happy to share the cost of shipment..
