Opinions... New wheels for the Outback

Post by Gannon » Tue Dec 21, 2010 5:20 am

I picked up some powdercoated gold GTB 17" alloys a while ago with the intention of putting them on the outback

I went out and took a photo with them leaning against the old rims and then erased the old ones with photoshop

What do you think? Does it look shmick, or is it a bit too much?

I like the colour match but in 2 minds whether 17" rims on an Outback looks right :???: to me it makes the car more of an on-road car.. maybe some higher profile tyres and a bigger lift?

Doesn't work for me. Looks kinda like you had some rims left over from another car or picked them up cheap and decided to run the tyres out.

Get me the eye bleach, paint them the same as the silver on the body.

First post updated with pics

I too am in 2 minds, i like the gold on red, but yeah the gold and silver clash
Secretly ive always wanted to paint the lower section the same as the rest of car. I did a photochop above too see what it looks like

After christmas i plan to get new struts and some king raised springs, but unsure if id go up a profile in tyres

Chop the bottom half of the car gold & see what that's like.

I tried to do a gold bottom, but it looked crappy, too much gold.

I really dont wanna sandblast the rims since they were recently powdercoated (worth more than i paid for them) so i will wait till my current tyres are bald, then put some 225/55r17 Turanzas on them, then later on when funds allow, colour code the lower body

gold + silver trim = :(

gold + red trim =

There's a cool outback on rslc forums which has had a turbo conversion, lowered and on 17s (I think). It looks like a wicked monster!
