No retorque gen head gaskets
Mentioned to the outstanding parts guy about my finding genuine head gaskets on EA82T did not need retension. Just looked at me as if to say something rude...... the workshop never has cars in overnight for headgaskets if can be helped, job is done, started up and driven out and finished, none of this run to op temp, cool overnight and strip down for a retension.
The genuine gaskets are the real deal no retorque gasket - unlike several after markets I have used before - genuinely needing a retorque

I never re-torqued head gaskets on the EA's. We only started using the copper spray too after an old school mechanic reckoned it should be used on all head gaskets - dad had never seen the stuff before but we swear by it.
Aftermarket head gaskets went well until you slipped up by overheating the engine several times...
Cheers

Some of the guys here recommend using Felpro Permatorque head gaskets on the ea82T, and making an additional pass on the headbolts adding 5 to 10 ft lbs torque. I have an '86 that will keep its ea-t and i think ill give this a try..as far as pulling it down to do a retourque...thats just crazy talk:twisted:

I use Monotorque head gaskets and Hylomar on EA81s and EA82s and never once had to retorque them.. one EA82 is still a regular customer and loves his engine.. always committing on how much power it has compared to his old one. I'm trying to convert him to EJ but.
