A lot of the WA guys run the PBR RPM397 "heavy duty" clutch behind our EA81's, EA82's and EJ22's (which run the 5 speed DR L box & flywheel).
After surviving 14 months in my wagon I think it's done quite well, no it hasn't had the HP of a turbo going through it but it has been driven by a complete bloody hoon. :P
My next EA82 clutch will be a custom made jobbie, going to take the old clutch into a clutch specialist and tell them to make an invincible one... see how long that lasts in there.

Button clutch 8O Fine if its a hot streeter, but they really can be a pain to drive slowly. Please find out for sure before fitting it. I had a ceramic clutch, in the Vortex, which wasn't as bad ( was a good performance clutch) but... my mrs hated it. It was on... or off ... and Buttons are worse. Hardly ANY feel on the pedal. I have only driven one a few times, when I was finding out if I should go down the same path.schultzie wrote:today i orderd the Daikin clutch and it was not a match... im getting the right one in the end it is a Button clutch... shall be fun my brain would tell me.. how bad is it going to be off road and in traffic.. from what i understand it is not going to be fun...
I really cant see how this could work off road, as you need some feel in the drive. No point in just spinning wheels .
Just my thoughts, talk to SOMEONE who regularly drives a button clutch before you put it in. Just my 2 cents worth. By the way, mine ended up as a Daiken too

yeah i realize that... there is still some play in it, not much... i was talking t a mate about it and he warned me that it would be hard to drive... if i were to keep a standard type clutch they would only be able to give me another 10% clamping force... that is the PBR kit and i was basically warned that it may not keep up..
Having not drove the car in its manual form the standard clutch may have been able to keep up but the previous owner even said that it slipps a bit, and the clutch looks to have been is good condition, still pleant of life left in it.
So not i have a trade off a clutch that will hold the extreme power of the ea82t *cough cough* but now making the car harder to drive and a pain in the ass offroad... i could just maby not stop on hills... that might help
i'm praying that it has enough play... but i guess ill find out soon enough...

I had a 4-puck solid centre clutch on my old RXT rallycar, with a standard factory pressure plate. It was very driveable at all speeds, be it on road or dirt, and didnt slip after three years of competition abuse.
(albeit with a pretty stock motor, just some boost & an exhaust).
I'd say those that have trouble with on/off button clutches are also running a much heavier pressure plate. I wouldnt have second thoughts about getting another one, even for a street car.

ok this is the link to the kit http://www.exedy.com.au/catalogue-detai ... d=39000484
it is a HD cushiond button clutch 8 puk and from what i understand it will be very drivable... it is pink..
for those that have a standard gearbox eg non turbo this is the kit you want becasue as we know the turbo gearbox is different and that is a different kit all up it cost me $330 with fly wheel machineing, new spogot bearing and thrust bearing, more than i expected but if it wont slip i cant complain...

i dunno when i rang and orderd the clutch i went up there with my fly wheel ect and when it came in it was different, but still suited a subaru... i dunno all i know is that i cant wait to get it in and finally drive this car as a manual
Question for the tech ppl, will the bolts holding the pressure plate to the flywheel be the same on the Ea82 5spd dr box and on the ea81 4sp dr box?
none of the bolts have come with the transmission.... even is some one can give me the dimensions ill rip one of my MY fly wheels apart it isnt as though i dont have enough of the bloddy things
