Anyone seen the Telegraph today

Post by coxy » Fri Oct 15, 2010 9:40 pm

Seems the Subaru and Toyota joint project for a replacement of the AE86 sprinter has borne fruit.
Toyota have a full page Ad for the new coupe with an FT86 in the model name promoting RWD and a "Boxer" engine with confirmation it will be coming to Australia.
Will we see a Subaru badged version with WRX running gear?
The car will be unveiled at the Sydney show that began today Friday 15th October.

I think this may have been discussed some time back. Looks like it's progressing further then.

You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.

I was just thinking why don't Subaru (like VW do with the golf) release a turbo diesel variant of this

Im sure my wife would buy one to Quote her "why doesn't Subaru make a turbo diesel sports car?"

Good idea!- 2 of my mates have VW Scirocco's. In TDI version and they (VW) are catching sales of these a plenty here.
Lots of power from the Scoob TDI unit too.
I am sure it would be a winner, alas I think we may have to wait years for it, unless Toyota shout loudly enough!

Give them a few years to iron out all the teething issues and I'm sure we'll see them  most other manufactures have been playing with diesels for many years and seeing that Japan is mad on Diesel fuel.. I'm guessing that Subaru's R&D are hot on the trail ;)

There's a two page ad for this car in the Motor Sport magazine with today's Australian newspaper.
