Probably was pretty obvious I guess, but that muffler really was a BIG problem. ( glass/ceramic packing had come astray and was choking the exhaust).
Power was non-existent and fuel economy was disgraceful.
As soon as the new item was fitted just pulling away quietly from the shop I noticed instantly the difference in throttle response.
I was waiting until I could get the chance to swap over the exhaust before I messed with the controller/vacuum lines. Just in case something like this happened. Boost simply wouldn't go over 5 PSI no matter how the manual controller was set. Happily topping out at 9 PSI now, boosting earlier and peaking much earlier.
Gotta say, not nearly as disappointed as I was! Actually pretty happy with it now. Not wild beast HP or anything, but much more respectable and worth spending a few $$ on if I feel like tweaking a bit more.
Whoo-Hoo!!!
(wondering if this is why it was on the market, big and probably sudden drop in performance. My gain if so!)
Replaced muffler - boost went from 4 to 9 PSI
Nah, this is the more recent addition. EJ20 turbo Liberty wagon (RS engine). Was kinda disappointed with it until today. My EA82T L series wagon was quicker for sure. That didn't seem right at all! Will see how it goes nudging 14 PSI later in the week - I'm sure that will cheer me right up.
Remove the manual boost controller after that and plumb up the solenoid again so the VOS chip can control boost pressures for me. I am hoping that is the better option.
