fog light troubles...

Post by burg0id » Mon Aug 23, 2010 8:33 am

I have a Impreza 2006 - 2007 model. I recently replaced my headlights with HID's but are yet to replace my fog lights. Before i pull the whole front bumper off to get to the lights, is there a simple way to get the globes out? In the car manual it tells me to take it to a subaru dealer to replace the globes, but there has to be an easy way to get them out. Can anyone help me?

normally thered be a cover behind the light that you just twist off to replace the globes..much like the headlights. May have to remove afew splash guards and stuff first though.

Thanks for that, i just thought there might be some way to get out that whole square part that houses the light.

Use a flat blade screw driver down the bottom of the fog light cover/filler (you'll see a recess right in the middle down the bottom).
Climb under the front of the car, undo the 3 or so clips that hold the guard liner to the bumper at the front (will be full of dirt and you might break them).
Fog light's are held in by 1 or 2 10mm nuts, undo those and unclip the harness and fog light will slide out.

A word of advice DON'T put HIDs in them if their proper fog lights, You want a softer yellow light as it penetrates through the fog without so much glare, thats why they mount them so low and thats why they used to come with yellow lenses. with my outback I turn the parkers on and the fog lights as opposed to my HIDs in the fog, Dust and heavy rain as you are able to see better!
P.S. the cheapest good headlight upgrade you can do is turn your dash lights down!
