Gasket set

Post by olddog642 » Thu Jul 22, 2010 8:22 pm

G'day,
just wondering if $132 is a reasonable cost for an EA81 complete engine rebuild gasket set including valve stem seals.
It seems reasonable to me as it's been a couple of decades since doing my last engine rebuild a Suzuku GS1100G motorbike
Still tinkering and learning:twisted:

depends on brand and quality of gasket. Genuine EA82 HGs are about twice price of aftermarket. gen looks quality and different construction. The sump gasket about 23 either way, EA81 rocker gaskets 7 or 8 bucks autopro, seals not too much more each, not much else for EA81 gaskets - may be better asking of the brand for yay or nay

Brand

Post by olddog642 » Fri Jul 23, 2010 12:29 am

Just checked out the gasket set and it is a Rock Products brand (USA)
perhaps one of the American members on this forum would be able to tell me more about the brand and if they are any good.

Hi Hylton
I just bought a complete set from these people, very easy to deal with and a bargain at £45.00 plus shipping.:D
See the piccy's they do pistons and rings, shells, bearings as well
They do parts for a wide range of engines Subaru as well as others.
Speak to Charles he is very helpful and does what he promises.
The kit all appears to be good though we have not used it just yet.
Tell him I put you in touch:D
Check out the images for a visual of what I got.

Cheers
Giles.:D

Gasket set cost to UK

Hey Hylton
The total cost to get the set here to the UK was as follows,

Parts...............USD 51.05 =AUD 57.10
Shipping...........USD 40.25 =AUD 45.02
UK Customs......GBP 19.11 (incl handling) =AUD 32.65

Total AUD = 134.77 or...(GBP 78.84)

You may or may not have to pay your local import tax - if not you are lucky!
I think the total price is very resonable.:D

I havnt purchased from rockauto yet but they seem to be a popular supplier with subara enthusiests here..never heard a bad comment about them, and they regularly run specials too. I have a preferred supplier not too far away, alot of items I source are from manufacturers that supply the oems.
