RETRACTION - MAZ626 seats > Brumby

Somewhere in last few years i may have given impression that the matching grey velour seats oh so comfy out of MAZ626/Ford Telstar 88-90 fit the front of MY or Brumby.

Dimensionally - they do, but try and get them in there to work with adjustable sliders and bolt in has taken me about five long sessions to get the buggers in there. Over two and a half years. Weld, cut, swear, cut, swear, swear, swear, weld again, cut effin swear again!

I now have completed task- have no adjust of drivers seat slider - makes install of bolts a right plick of a job, the left seat structure totally bloody different and MAZ frame dictated the height seat had to be but got slides in and working and now finished seat just bolts in same holes as Brumby seats did like a bought one.

Worked differently for the left - so cannot duplicate the RHS fit on LHS. Bolted slider off Brum seat to floor. Welded flat 6mm bar to inside edge of MAZ seat and kept sitting seat on sliders to mark, drill one hole, fit again to check, then the rear hole. Found it was better to drill holes and bolt things together as I went to allow for adjusting things

I took no pics of the process - as do not want to encourage anyone to follow

GOT IT ?

tomorow?? I may just do something pleasurable like swap engines in the GLTA

got it step toe thanks hahah.
try fitting a land cruiser seat into a suzuki hatch
that hurt as a 10 year old. sat the runners down and welder them on, blew the fire out, all good except i cant actually get in anymore oh well, its suby time

lol, WRX seats are cheap these days and take about an hour of simple mods (some minor welding) to fit into an L series or MY, and work fine. Dare say they'd be a damn site nicer/comfier than 626 seats too

Nope, actually forgotten all about it.

Now I remember, i got a bruised finger nail when I smashed it against the sharp edge of my Russian made bench vise cutting stuff up for the seat job.

The seats are comfy, no cold (or stinkin' hot) bits of vinyl to touch bare skin . Had a most refreshing six hour trip at the wheel of a MAZ626 - hope the secret was in the seats
