EA 82 oil cap.

Post by Battlewagon » Wed Jun 30, 2010 8:03 pm

Has anyone else had trouble with losing the oil cap off their EA82?
Mine was loose for a while, and now...it's gone.
Anyone got a spare??

Hehehe... Yeah this always happens. Either clamp the two retaining tabs down with some pliers or get a new rubber ring that seals the cap.

Dad made a chain to hold onto my sister's oil cap in Baz ('84 L sedan), I think she lost 4 of them and he got sick of going out to get replacements.

The one on Sunnie the Brumby has ended up on top of the engine block more times than I care to remember, we're just lucky that the EA81 design allows the cap to fall onto the engine and become trapped, unlike the EA82...

A typical cap from your beef or chicken stock powder might be able to do the job ;)

i have a few laying around but may i suggest if you have a worn oil cap seal, when you screw it on, screw it back a quarter of a turn until it becomes firm again. i've done this for years and its never fallen off. ;)

the EJ neck is plastic? May have an O ring seal rather than a gasket? LEGO tradition continues

yes sir, plastic and a thread on cap, im assuming the mounting base is the same or close enough to work.
