from the crappy picture id say its pointing to the charcoal canister
activated carbon sucks in noxiuos fumes and forces hydrocarbons to be burnt or sucked in and contained so they cannot escape to the atmosphere

...thus it is a part of the emissions control system, needs to have it in order to meet aus standards I believe?spike wrote:from the crappy picture id say its pointing to the charcoal canister

Found on 92 models, it is not the charcoal cannister as Spike suggests, that is in the right hand corner drivers side on an L series and on LHS corner on Brumby. I think it has a diaphragm in it for transfer of..... you must also have an alloy housing nearby mounte on the oil fill tube bracket that has pipe of to egr fitting below head on same side and it has some sort of red valve in it to allow EGR function. I think the black thing in your pic is a control of the reed valve jigger. My 84 does not have this crap on it. Just think , you have a carby with no O2 sensor attached on a vehicel made in 92 old new up to 94, all these extra inventions to pas emmissions laws.
Thanks guys
Thanks for the info. I was sure the items I mentioned had something to do with the emission control I knew about the charcoal canister which is in the left front of the Brumby.
My next statement is, Is it normal for the hose that is connected to the air filter housing to the engine create a noise similar to an exhaust leak, whilst it is sucking air from the housing back into the engine??
Hylton
Ps boy have I got a lot to learn about these little babies:)

Hey Hylton, it does make a kinda pop..pop..pop.. sound but it should be fairly quiet to hear when the system is all connected correctly and the air filter lid is on. I know they are a pain to work out if all the pipes are hooked up correctly. It's best to find a copy of the Gregorys manual (ensure it covers your model of Brumby) or I can take some close up pictures of mine if you like?
Cheers,
Paul

I've just spent the better part of this evening looking for my manual eventually found it under the tarp in my shed lol I've located the diagrams so later today I'll cross refference it with my layout on he vehicle. Some pics of yours may also come in handy. You have my email address I think.
thanks again
