02 fuel economy

Post by Tonz » Mon Jun 07, 2010 8:45 pm

Our 02 outback limited has 132k on the clock one owner and very well maintained.
Having sucumed to Subbies from the big blue ovals Iam rather alarmed at the fuel economy. We have a legal 6.5 hour trip to Adelaide every so often and with cruise set at 108 appear to be hitting 11 L/100k This I think is heavy. Whats your thoughts

Is it a 2.5L or the 3.0L?

A car full of people will make it worse, as will lots of hills.

My 2.5L 01 Outback usually gets around 10.5L/100km, but this is because my daily commute involves a several hills and a varying speeds, plus i drive with a heavy foot.

If im driving on the freeway, i can get as good as 9L/100km

Subbie economy

Post by graham7773 » Tue Jun 08, 2010 8:38 am

I'm new to subbies, don't know if a 1992 GX Legacy is of any interest but the one I bought from Canberra a week or so ago is getting 7.62l per 100k city and mainly highway. Is that good bad or indifferent? By the way, does anyone have decent a FWD 5speed manual gearbox for a 1992 GX Liberty they want to get rid of? Mine has noisy input bearing. PM me please.
