check engine light gen3 lib

Post by Alex » Tue Apr 06, 2010 3:14 pm

hey guys,

recently, its slowly been getting worse, my check engine light has been been coming on and off very randomly.

Im lead to believe its throwing a knock sensor code because when the engine light comes on the power is retarded, can anything else lead to power being retarded?

How do i check the codes on my liberty? ive found two green plugs under the steering column and connected them but this does nothing.

Thanks

Hey Alex.. Most times when the Check Engine light appears (if the problems are critical) then the ECU will go into limp mode and stop the engine doing itself any damage and one of the things it does is retard timing and add extra fuel. I have the scanner if you want to come down the shop and I'll check them out for ya?

yeah thatd be sweet as. Does the check engine light have to be on though? Im just saying this because the problem is intermittent.

Nah.. the scanner checks old (stored) and current codes, so no dramas. I'm planning on heading to Kilcarnup tomorrow morning so it will have to be this arvo or anytime after Sat :)

the power being retarded in your car is just because you haven't put the B4 frontcut in yet... :)
