awsome looking Karman Ghia and as for the kombi cool
I knew a guy when I was 14 who had an old grey motor (a 149 I think) in his kombi with a radiator mounted on the bullbar on the front and pipes running to the motor he could wind it off the speedo
the police were most unamused with it and placed a red sticker on the windscreen
a question about the distributor as it looks like the stand alone unit does it have a plug with 3 or 4 pins or does it have 2 wires coming out of it ?
and I know from speaking to a member from New Zealand that the carby and dizzy option were available there its just a matter of getting them to Australia

Actually, no you can't if you ever want it to run properly. EJ22 electronics will run an EJ18, but it won't idle, won't make full power and will use lots of fuel.El_Freddo wrote:Vdubrod,
To source the EFI gear to get this going (with the efi of course) you can use the liberty 2.2 litre intake manifold, ECU, wiring and exhaust manifold. You might want to source some 1.8 litre sized injectors, otherwise you may be squirting more fuel than you need to be...
Yeah as i was driving to work (about 10 minutes after i posted the reply) i realised that yes, the dizzy has a cam angle sensor that sends a signal to the ECU, which then looks up a timing map and then outputs a pulse back to the dizzy to fire the coil.vdubrod wrote:Suparoo
that is how the engine came and dizzy that is on it is an EFI one so it wont work without an ECU
to do this you would have to keep the ej22 injectors as ej22s are airflow based the ecu would compinsate for this (assuming the ecu dosent go into limp mode)El_Freddo wrote:Vdubrod,
