Brumby bonnet hinge broke

Post by Spin » Wed Mar 24, 2010 11:15 pm

Hi, has anyone ever had to replace a bonnet hinge on their Brumby? My drivers side hinge seems to be broken. I have not been able to work out yet how you get to the hinge and if it is replaceable. Any one know? thanks Spin

Take the wiper valance off (bit between windscreen and bonnet, held down by 5 screws), and undo the small pivot bolt. It's most likely hidden under some sealing compound, but it's there. The hinge looks like a big hook when it's out and is easily replaced.

I suspect though, it's more likely your bonnet is at fault. If the hinge gets stiff and you keep opening the bonnet without lubing it, the mounting area on the corner of the bonnet will bend and fracture. have a look at it while you move the bonnet up and down.

My Brumby did the alternative, the body side of the hinge started to tare away from the body, was easily welded up though.
