I am addicted (dial up die)

Post by BRUMBERTY » Mon Mar 27, 2006 11:16 am

Hi, my name is Matt and I have a problem.
I am addicted to bright lights.
Its been getting worse, they are never bright enough.

I started off with this..
Image

They were dim and yellow, so I put some H4s in there.
Then Fatz's mighty L sedan donated some Hella 181s
Image

Got a little brighter, not enough, not by a long way.

A pilgrimage to Rising Sun in Adelaide saw me upgrade to some good copies of Cibie Oscar spots,
Starting to get somewhere now. Those suckers are good, but there was still dark areas.

Image

So... I scored a set of PIAAs for $70 on ebay, then another set for $62.50 aaaaaagh then I knew,, I am sick!
I put a set on and they did the job, no doubt.
Bright blinding white filled all the gaps down low and wide.
But... how long were they going to last mounted here???
Image

Not very long with the amount of wildlife around here!

SO, This weekend I rebuild a set of old Cibie Oscars (original spreads) and mounted them in front of the inner factory lights, slightly behind the spots and evenly spaced accross the front ( ala WRC cars).

Have I gone too far??

I found the old round headlight front end to be the best for me. I upgraded to Narva 7" H4 lamps that give sufficient spread, and the spots in Caterpiller housings are 5 3/4" sealed beam aircraft landing lights - 100W.

I love it I have just done the H4 conversion myself and am still lacking the lighting levels I would like to have. You have given me a few ideas of where to put a set of lights or two. I just need to get a different bull bar and fit them up.

Looks good Matt, but I think you need four more facing forward on the top of the rollbar. This should help with your fear of the dark!!!

OK OK OK I will make a bar for 'off roading only'
They will have to be as they also will live on the jet boat.

Hmm some sort of modular bar.......trailer wiring connectors.....hmmm

I am going to need 1200rpm idle to run them, it already drops the revs by 600 when I hit the bright switch.

And Johnnie, the outer driving lights are spread beam.
Its all white now dude.

I can make road signs dip their lights!!
