What models have the same parts as my car?

Post by SuBaRiNo » Fri Mar 05, 2010 10:46 pm

I have a GT 01 Forester... the thing is falling apart. I need parts ASAP... mainly the front hub assembleys. What other models might have the same matching hubs and assembly other than this exact model?

Dave do you mean the bearing hub? and does your GT have the ABS sensor at right angles to the CV shaft or run parallel ?

How did you come to needing this as I was wondering the other day when you said you were going to swap left and right over? and I was thinking it just won't work??

I have a killer scraping noise that goes in time with the wheels turning. It's not brakes related... wheel bearings are less than 6 months of... this problem has been coming and going for ages. Gets worse when we turn corners. Sounds EXACTLY like a loose hub nut but i just bent a massive snap on torque wrench trying to get it tighter. Feels like there is play in it like either the hub or something it thrashed out.

Im over trying to fix it... just want to swap the whole thing out.

There is one sensor on it... it's towards the front of the car and 45 degrees up from level if that makes sence.

Your Foz sounds like a lemon. What you need is a good MY hatchback.

If the Hatch had air con and had the traction to pull the camper then the forester would go in the bin.

Left side.

That would be great Paul. Im really struggling to find reasons to keep this car. Im happy to pay for parts I need and stuff but can't afford thousands of dollars to take it into a garage at this stage.

Mate i will owe you big time for this.

No probs Dave.. I know what you mean :) I've been off work since last November and the bank balance is feeling the pinch. I'm sure I've got that hub at the workshop (along with the exhaust piece) and I'll bring them up. You don't need to pay for them as I'm sure I'm going to need your help with wiring jobs at some stage :)

Stone guard has been inspected and there is now "clean" marks on the guard showing it might be rubbing. It has been dismantled and re-assembled many times now.

Last night the noise continued when cold but usually it only starts after about 15 minutes of driving. It is definately coming from the front left hub area... i have layed under it and it is there someplace.

I swear i can feel slight play in the wheel down there too. Wheel bearings, brake pads, disks have all been replaced in the last 6 months.

If it was an MY my money would be on the cone washer, but im not sure what exactly pulls everything square on these newer subies. CV shaft or hub maybe?

Hey Dave.. This problem didn't start after the wheel bearings were replaced did it?

BTW, Fishing in Yallingup is going off at the moment :p We got 2x 700mm Salmon and 1x 600mm Tailor off the rocks at Bunkers last night :) and 30x Bull Herring in about 30mins.

The noise was the reason i got the bearings done... and rotors... and pads.
