General info on second generation Libs ?

Post by discopotato03 » Fri Feb 26, 2010 9:22 am

Hi all , I sometimes wonder if I could live with one of these critters . It would have to be an AWD sedan , I don't know what engine options were available and not sure if I've ever seen an RS Turbo Gen 2 .

Any links to what we got here in Aus ?

BTW TT versions are out - HATE sequential twin turbo engines .

Cheers A .

the gen2 GT-B was a Ej20TT...but im pretty sure there werent any oz delivered ones, theyre all import legacys or converted. Bilsteins, etc.

Otherwise, the gen2 RX is a very nice car. Ej25(prone to head gasket), heaps of fruit and they look very sporty and swish. AWD. I love the foglights and front bar they have. They have skirts i think also.

EDIT: there is a RX spec B also, with bilstein suspension.

Then the LX was ej22 powered and fwd I THINK??. With some of the later ones Ej25.

Heritage, EJ25, leather, top of the line. With all of the best bits.

thats a pretty simple but broad outline of them.

No no sale yet , I want it running well and need another 23.5K to have had 100 out of it .

Just thinking maybe MY00 Impreza a tad small but don't want too big .

Nippers into wonder years and getting longer legs . Gen two has unusual styling but some look alright in white . Billies would be goooood .

Here is the info for Liberty.

There is RS Gen 2 but they were imported same with GT as well.

All LX and GX were EJ22s, same with Heritage early were EJ22 later was EJ25.

There are LX and GX in FWD in early series but most are AWDs.
Cheers

How much do you want to spend?

There is a Gen2 RX sedan for sale on RSLC.org with an EZ30R conversion. Thats a 180kW 3.0L engine in a 1330kg car. Only downside is he wants $15K for it
Current rides: 2016 Mitsubishi Triton GLS & 2004 Forester X
Ongoing Project/Toy: 1987 RX Turbo EA82T, Speeduino ECU, Coil-pack ignition, 440cc Injectors, KONI adjustale front struts, Hybrid L Series/ Liberty AWD 5sp
Past rides: 92 L series turbo converted wagon, 83 Leone GL Sedan, 2004 Liberty GT Sedan & 2001 Outback

Be interesting to see a link to that one Gannon .

Thanks AP , matter of taste I suppose but these things went backwards styling wise and the current ones are ghastly IMO .

One VERY important thing to me . A feller I know has a 3rd Gen ? B4 and while he likes it he had all kinds of dramas with the security system .
Long/short it was involved in and accident years ago and spent a long time at the panel shop being repaired . The battery naturally went flat and the security system said no starty when it was replaced . Subaru expected them to float the thing back to base to have the system reset code wise .
Until threatened with strorage cost Sube refused to give them this code and I guess wouldn't give it to joe average owner .

I won't tolerate this kind of garbage , I expect to be able to isolate a cars battery or change it when I feel like it and expect it to start and run again with its key .

Where do 2nd Gen Libs fit in this security system fiasco ?

Also the grey import RS , single turbo EJ20 ?

Cheers A .

it's a simple thing to replace an alarm system, not something worth boycotting entire models for.
Also single turbo conversions are pretty straight forward and tried/tested too. As VV says, check out rslc.org. Absolute wealth of info on all things "berty".

Twin scroll singles were always the best option on any EJ turbo engine .

From what i know as I've seen, the factory fitted alarm system is the worst alarm system i've seen. (remote didnt work even new battery, you have to walk right up to your windscreen to get the sensor to pick up the remote and alarm didnt go off when it should have etc)
Mine was factory fitted but I took it out and fitted after market one and so much better and more secure (and loud - really annoying!).
Cheers

that shouldn't influence you really tho on your choice of model. If you want a twin scroll turbo just put one on. If ur a true enthusiast u will want to do some mods! :)
