Restoring Brumby tray

Post by smiles » Thu Feb 18, 2010 1:42 am

I'm about to do some work in the tray of my Brumby to get rid of the rust that has bubbled under the paint since I have been away overseas. I am going to grind/wire brush it down to bare metal, and then I'll have to decide how to protect it. Does anybody have any specific recommendations for an aerosol can primer?

Thanks!

any brand of hammer tone paint on bare metal better than a primer - it seals the rust in a glass like paint. I used it on my Brumby windscreen rusty bits in 1998, in 2006 when I replaced screen it was like I'd just done it. There was no more rust advance. I suppose when it is sanded it could be overcoated. Did you go the LPG?

Great! That's what I'll use then.

Add PENETROL to your paint, and/or straight to the metal. seriously, its magic stuff. and hammertone is great, especially with PENETROL!!
