EA81 on LPG
EA81 on LPG
Hi Everyone,
I'm considering converting my 92 Brumby to a dual fuel system. Are there any modifications I should do before I take it in to the LPG shop, to optimize the final outcome- like fitting a different carbie, or air box?
Also has anyone managed to fit a tank under the forward end of the tray? There is a fair bit of room there..
Cheers.

There is a few people converting to gas behind EA81, The Brumby Ive seen in the past (a few) has a tank in the tray, I agree there is a fair space under it as well.

Done two Brumby EA81 to LPG straight. Tailshaft gets in the way of under tray instal of tank. It'd be a pain to fit two small tanks up there. I fitted tank at front on tray.
Really, you need to talk to installer coz things depend on what system he has in mind.
I went Impco 125 mixer, Impco J or cobra converter.
One has VN air box where jack was. A universal steering rack boot then feeds filtered air to the bell mouth of a side mounted mixer mounted to where the AC compressor was, then a custom made exhaust pipe joined to a mandrel bend with silicone hose onto a box of 100 x 50mm steel RHS with welded up ends. This box sits atop my twin Hitachis using extended hold down studs from carby up through box to hole and nut washer arrangement.
The other is Mitsu efi TB adapted onto EA81 manifold and mixer sits on that joined with sili hose. Not happiest with it yet.
Impco now do a positive pressure J or cobra converter and spud mixer - may be best Impco set up to play with. Your fitter may have his own preference.
To mod the mech advance on the dizzy is easy too. Lift it off , braze up the outer ends of slots and file to suit ensuring Max total advance of 28 degrees
