Not 100% sure but AFAIK, there's a cap on HP but not on torque.

They must have got all excited when they saw the brumby so thought they'd do something similar. Sounds like they've got the right idea and doing plenty of trial runs first plus using the kiss method (keep it simple stupid) although unfortunately not expecting too much the first year or two!
87 targa brumby (Neglected),
92 targa brumby (weekend runabout),
97 Lifted Outback (Dailey drive),
05 outback safety (Too cheap to pass up),
90 model liberty (was to be scrapped instead sold to workmate)
+ others.

Dakar starts shortly. The two Foresters are starting 45th and 46th on the road. Hope they get some airtime but I won't be holding my breath.

My good friend Bruce Garland in the Isuzu D-Max is starting 20th this year (up from 63rd) due to his stellar performance last year. Go Bruce!

I just found the Foresters got knocked out early but no idea what happened.
Anybody shed some light?
It appears that #345 didn't start stage 3 and #346 didn't start stage 2.

Also found out they weigh in at 1750kgs. I assume thats with crew and full fuel. Amazing how it adds up with 4 extra shocks, 3 big spare tyres, glass, 6 speed and all that cromemoly tube. That's a whole 450kgs heavier than us!

Looks like Bruces out.I've been following the bikes.4 aussies bikes only 2 left.
.....
more bad news, at least its not tragic...

garland & suzuki look like there out.
sbs australia said they dropped time but were 23.
official standings had wallenth/ollsen in 23 and no sign of garland/suzuki.
garland facebook reports:

Linda Long Just spoke to Bruce - very sad Australia but they will not be competing the rest of the Dakar Rally.

Murphys Law came into play today - first thetorsion bar broke then the spare wheel came off the mount point and flew in the air only to land on the car and damage the radiator. Engine then overheated and as you can imag...ine - the rest is not a pretty tale. Lack of water and high temperatures forced the pair to return to the bitumen to limp into the overnight stop.

They will now continue on as backup service for Pelle and Olle. They may have lost the race - but they haven't lost the war - GMS will support Pelle and Olle in their quest to finish Dakar.

Bruce and Harry are overwhelmed by all your support and are sorry they couldn't have made this a better result.

So now we will have the Bruce and Harry on the road with the other Service Crew Guys - I'm sure we'll get alot of amusing stories and pics along the way.

Linda Long Bruce and Harry are finally in the overnight bivouvac. They have had suspension problems. Pelle and Olle finished the stage with clutch problems but the guys are on the case now fixing everything.

It's going to be a long night for the guys - now's the time for your best wishes and motivation Australia!
