weber on an ea 82 questions
hello all havent been around for long but have enjoyed the site and all theinfo to be found on it.
my question revolves around a weber 32/36 carb on to an ea82 motor.
the carb has been sitting around for awhile before i decided to bite bite the bullet and try and fit it. its on but there are some issues.
1) there is no choke the carb is a dgav ,
it had no choke on it but i do have the parts ie the shaft and flaps. can you fit a non manual choke to these carbs as the cars original was automatic and if i could i would like eventually to have the choke working.
2) vacuum hoses are a bit confusing just how many of them are definately needed for the car to run well.
the distributor hose is plumbed up but what else ids needed. pics or diagrams would be great are there any to be found online?
there are some on the manifold as well that could do with some expert advice as well. just what can be plugged off?
sorry if these questions are old hat i did try a search but found it hard to find out exactly what i needed to know.
thanks for any advice. phil

well i seemed to have sorted out most of the vacuum hoses and i have gotten the car started. i plugged all the obvious air leaks and now it idles smoothly. woo hoo! unfortunately it doesnt like being revved at all. tried a drive around the block and it just doeant want to rev. just boggs down and tries to stall. any advice would be fantastic.
where abouts are you located?
in warmer parts of the globe (ie most of oz) you will get by comfortably without the choke. i never had it. two and a half pumps of the throttle (holding down the half) and she fired first go.
did have to warm her up for about a minute or two though before driving... but she idled on her own, whilst i ran back inside to brush my teeth!

2 possibilities spring to mind for the stalling:
1st one is maybe it's running to rich and flooding, what was it off, did you re-jet it?
2nd is maybe you do need the choke, was it up to normal operating temp when you took it for a drive?
Jordan.

i have let it idle for over 5 minutes and the needle and seat are new. the float height i am not sure (what are the symptoms of a float level problem , also how do you check it and adjust it ) it idles really smoothly it just burbles and dies if you press the accelerator. as for the mixture screw its out 2 complete turns. primary main jet is 132 secondary main jet is 127
primary air jet is 175 secondary air jet is 145
the carb power valve assembly is new as well. now im a bit of a pumpkin head regarding carbs so go easy on me if there was a book called webers for dummies i would need to but it. im looking for a good compromise setup power up but i still want the best economy i can. i have a few long trips planned and it would be an issue were i am thinking of going. as for the choke i dont think there would be any room for a choke because the power steering pump is very close.
thanks all
