ok so Im pretty sure my 89 brumby would have a 225 mm clutch in it (famous last words)

the number on the box reads TW70F13E1A3-DU or TW70F18E1A3-DU or TW70ET8E1A3-DU as it was just about rubbed away with age and I had to tweak it in photoshop to get the numbers see if you can guess

question 1. how do I know which clutch mine takes, as there is a 24 spline clutch and a 21 spline clutch (when I rang around I was told of this wonderous difference and how brumby parts are plated with gold)

question 2. is there any way apart from pulling the engine out (way easier than the gearbox of course) to find out?

question 3. would the vin number or build date help me?

it has a 3.7 ratio high lo 4 speed box in it

seems that the clutch has to come from the east coast down here in Australind

so I may as well order from ebay as this guy

sells Valeo cheaper than the parts stores sell other brands before gst and shipping(nice of them huh)

Any reason u can't just look at it? Ur going to have to take it out anyway. Just take it out...then buy your new clutch once you're sure what you're going to need. Unless you can't afford to have the car off the road for long I guess.

Unfortunately VIN number references etc will only help you with what the car would have originally had. It could have been swapped

Maybe consider doing the common 5spd dual range gearbox conversion at the same time. This would work out much better in the long run.

got a shed in Australind I can use to store the brumby while the engine is out and while I wait for the clutch kit Andrew If I had the money I would fit an EA 5 speed AWD dual range box and diff :)

The only surefire way of finding out is to you know what. I found a bigger clutch in an 84 wagon, yet all other 84's I looked at have had smaller clutch.

yep I know hence my 200 dollar purchase here

until I find some space to pull the engine out and know for sure Ive got a bunky to drive around

having said that I would have thought that with the vin number on the side of the gearbox I would have been able to find some information on the net but after searching apparently my box does not exist

you have no box?

i take worn plates to the brake reliners and they reline the old plate.
last one was gq nissan at $90. 1 day turnaround.
dunno if you got a reliners or brake bonders in bumberry tho

I never get plates relined they inevitably stuff up, the springs fall out or the rivets break or it distorts.
buy new and do it right the first time.

Its easier to buy a new kit from Ebay the box is fine and yes I have another box you helped me put it in my garden shed, but there are 2 types a 21 spline and a 24 spline and I won't know until I pull the engine from the brumby

which at this point in time might be a while as I don't have anywhere to operate

so Im being kind to the brown bomber

buy the kit to suit the box in the shed and if it doesnt fit the one in the car, then swap boxes
