Thanks to suggestions from Subybrumby, I think I have traced the knocking noise in the front RHS.
There is a fir bit of movement in the caliper ( It moves back and forth quite easily on the anchor pin) and I think this may be the culprit.
Can the pins be replaced or does the whole anchor have to be renewed?
Suggestions appreciated
Thanks

Check that your hand brake cables are adjusted and not stretched. I have just gone thru this and realized the rhs cable had been stretched by accident when I was removing the gearbox. As a result the caliper body was loose and moving around and making noise and whenever I applied the brakes. I was getting a massive clunk as the caliper body took up the play and moved into position. Since the RHS cable has been streched, the hand brake equalizer was allowing the hand brake cable on the LHS to relax and caused the handbrake lever to relax and subsequently the lhs hand brake lever on the caliper was pretty much applied all the time. I discovered this after realizing that there was always brake dust on the lhs front wheel rim and none on the Rhs. The LHS brake pads were totally worn down to metal after approx 6000km.

Thanks,
Cable seems to be ok. I readjusted it after the new pads. Obviously the old pads allowed the handbrake to come up a long way, now its about 4 or 5 notches as per the manual. The movement I can feel movement in the calipers only when handbrake is off. Seems too much play there and all the movement is on the pin.
Cheers
