URGENT, removing hubs

Post by someguy » Sun Oct 04, 2009 2:37 pm

Hi All.

One of the threads has stripped on my L Series front hubs and I need to get a replacement from U-Pull-It today.

What tool do I need to remove the large center bolt on the hub.

None of my spanners/shifters are large enough.

Thanks

You need a 36mm socket and breaker bar to remove the large castellated nut.

What exactly has stripped on your hub? If it's just one of the 4 threads you bolt the wheel on with these are very easy to replace individually (without even removing the hub). Simply smack it out with a hammer and something against it to dull the force and smack in a replacement. Maybe grab the replacement from Upullit but you can also buy these at some auto parts stores.

Yep just realised I can do them individually.

Will just head over to repco in the morning and grab a new one.
