Looking for a WAIC
Looking for a WAIC
Greetings from Seattle Washington! I'm a member of the Subaru forum here in the states, and joined here at the suggestion of a member. I may be posting in the wrong are, so if I am, I appologize. I'm trying to locate a WAIC from a legacy/Liberty that had the EJ20G (twin turbo). I'm doing an EJ22 + turbo swap in my 87.5 Xt GL10 and space is a premium. Since I'm running the NA engine with 6-8 psi of boost, I need the intercooler and a stock WAIC is the ticket. I've been trying to find one for over a month with no luck. I was told I would have the best luck here. Anyone have one or know the where abouts of one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ski
Ah, I might have misunderstood, or maybe the TT with the WAIC was from the Netherlands. Eitherway.... STILL NEED ONE! LOL I am male. At least I was when I went to bed last night. One sec, I'll check......... Yep, still male. Ski is short for my last name of Levandowski. Thanks for the info SG. I hate looking for things that didn't exist....

Hi Ski , if you have access to them the later EJ turbo engines with the single twin scroll turbocharger is a better system . It's a hell of lot less complex than the twin sequential turbo system and makes for better power delivery as well .
All they've really done is make a header system that really works and fitted appropriate sized twin scroll turbine housings to the turbocharger . Simple neat and highly functional . Brings EJ turbos out of the dark ages effectively .

I was planning on that as an upgrade later. Right now, I'm just trying to get the ej22 in it and get the interior reassembled. She was down for a couple of months while I removed the sunroof halo (frame) from the roof itself and rebuilt it to get rid of the rust and the poor design that caused it. The day after I got it back together, I took it out and lost a rod (for the second time in 10K miles with a new crank and rods) Decided I was tired of screwing around with the EA82t and got everything for the EJ22 swap for next to nothing. I bought the car for $350 and pulled the engine and all wiring. Sold the trans and diff for $300 then traded (what was left of) the car to my local soobie wrecker for the turbo, piping and exhaust. So we're going to run about 6psi of boost on the non turbo motor. I have the AFR, EGT, oil temp and pressure guages for it and a two stage boost controller with a built in nitrous controller and turbo cool down timer. Picked up an oil filter/cooler adapter and have a 12x12x1, 19 pass oil cooler to go with it. I've been piecing it all together for the better part of a year and the intercooler is the last thing on the list so I can put it all together and run it!
