A pair of Projector Headlights... They are RHD version.

As some of you know that I've been complaining that Gen 2 Liberty's headlight are the shittest lights I've known, So I've found a pair of Projectors and I will install HIDs in them.

I'll install them on my Liberty over next week...

Just a tip, if you use cheap HID / Non UV cut bulbs expect the lens to yellow.....

Update:
I've ordered H4 conversion connectors from USA, they've arrived today. I will be making wire loom for it with relays installed (didnt want to cut factory loom like what a lot of people do!).
I've decided to ground one of the connectors, The reason is that I want to have high and low while in highbeam. If I used the factory connector i will only have high beam in highbeam (no low beam while on high) and I'm installing relays to give better current as I'm nervous about overloading the wires and I feel safer with relays & fuses..

I've polished the headlights and they've come up like brand new!

I've already tested one of the headlights and they do look good and it has better light "spread" than normal Liberty ones. Will have updates maybe this weekend when I install them.
Cheers

Headlights are installed.... much better in low beam at night time, makes a big difference... next thing is HID!!!... (wet weather is noticeable difference)
The downside about them is the full beam.. it sucks... I dunno what I'm gonna do about it... only good thing about full beam is i can see more (bit more extra lights) ie. overhead trees/ half of the power pole and you can see ahead further than 50-70metres in front...

Hint - Ive grounded one of the plugs do i can have dual headlights (high and low on the same time) Will have a write up soon.

Be careful with running both filaments at the same time, the globe and light fitting is probably only designed for dissipating the heat from one filament at once, so with both running, you are gonna create almost twice the heat and could damage your light. Your return wire is also gonna be burdened with twice the current it was designed for.

Also...
When you go to buy your HID kit, dont get the cheapest one you can find. Remember you get what you pay for.
Ive heard of stories where cheap HID units are made 'cheaply' and the solder tracks on the circuit board are too close together between the HV and LV sides. Then a flash-over has caused a high voltage surge on the primary side and fried other electronics in the car, like the ECU and CD player.

Sorry for such a negative post, but id hate to see you damage your new lights.

Ok, here is an update -
Here is pics of my Gen 2 Liberty wagon with JDM Projectors with HID & JDM fogs (Halogen)...

Image
Image
Left Side light (Drivers side) is 4300k HID
Right Side light (Passengers side) is 5000k HID
As you can see the difference, I must admit, since I installed 4300k last night they're so much better - I am just after light output not just the looks. Its better than 5000k and LOT better than 6000k. I do a lot of country driving anyway.

I tried taking a photo of the road with reflective signs etc but it didn't show up with my camera, looked like normal lights, only able to see it in your own eyes.

very nice Ive never had a problem with my 92 Liberty when its on low beam out on the highway I get the old highbeam flick as they think Im on high beam but when I flick high beam they leave me alone (ive never changed the globes)

(hijack:) )now I just need a conversion kit for the brumby

I found one halogen style headlight at a salvage yard the other day but failed to buy it same shape and size as a brumby single head light

Im going to continue to look

hey raven, are these lights still good and ok, i just did the same with mrs' outback, mine was a h1 6000k kit. was thinking of another kit for the high beam too but in 4300k as you suggested, any yellowing yet, and are you running high and low together and any probs with that, and is it worthwhile.
i cant see any probs as hid are only 35w and they are cooler to run, if you stand infront of hid compared to halogen you can feel how hot the halogen ones are.
thanks

i have followed alpine raven
and his gt light fitment to his gen2, i also have just finished installing gt lights to mrs' outback but have got the hid done too. my kit was a 6000k purchased to suit h1 bulbs so hid are on low beam only. there are 100w on high beam anyway. look awesome tho, yet to drive at night and focus but looks promising.
i think the highs are h3, is this correct?

also note i smashed out the orange indicator shrouds and put in some phantom bulbs, they look mirror finished but flash orange.

G'day,
Yeah its been 4 months since I installed them and not looking back at all, everytime I complain "how bad it is" in other cars ie. holden rodeo, toyota camry etc...
I kept going backwards and forwards to 5000k and 4300k, just put 4300k back in 2 weeks ago and they're just better than 5000k full stop.

I wouldn't recommend HID in full beam because they take a while to 'warm' up and HIDs don't like being turned on, off, on and off etc...

No yellowing has been shown yet, they're still the same when I polished & installed them.

Actually, 35w is cooler yeah, but if you had 50w HID it'll be slightly cooler than 55watt halogen globe.

Cheers

I've been meaning to take out the orange flasher out as well - it really annoys me but will do that sometime - what is the best way as you did it to yours.
Full beam is H3 yes. You're running 100watt? How are they holding in? - I'm too scared to run 100watt full beam..

ap, while light was out, i removed flasher bulb and reached into hole with long nose pliers and broke it up by twisting and turning. is only held by one screw, but i started on the side away from the screw. you need to break it up first and get it out in bits, save the bit by the screw till last. careful not to put too much pressure on reflector as it is a bit brittle.
i have cooked other lenses off, put em in the oven till glue is soft and pull apart, the glue is a bit like windscreen sealer

Where'd you get the projector headlights? Rekon they are available to suit Gen1 Series1? I wouldn't mind upgrading to HID's in the GT but would prefer to do it properly with projectors.

Got them from EKW wreckers in a good price (thru a mate who works there), there is only projectors on Gen 2 Liberty, not available in gen1 liberty/legacy, I know how you feel about them, they arent good at night eh?
