Chrome painting

Post by AlpineRaven » Sun Aug 16, 2009 1:03 pm

I want to do some chrome painting (also experience in chrome painting as well), it'll be painted on a old metal light (not high wattage) dome and I want to make it a better reflective for the light. In the past I've bought and sprayed chrome on things (metal to plastic) but it never actually shows chrome, as it just dull aluminum look.. What am I doing wrong? or there is something better than spray on ones? or what??

Cheers

Yeah I've had the same experience, it just never really works. I think the only real option is to actually get it chrome plated. Although I wonder how expensive this would be.

i was looking at a site that was making solar reflectors, they were using some type of reflective film, looked bit like window tint film. they cut it in strips to get the get the curve right and used several layers to make it 100% opaque. when finished you could see a reflection although not clearly.
if my memory is correct it was on utube
