Yep, powerlines today with the Subie club, at the end near Talbot Rd.
I had been going really well all day, cruising up obstacles when the Foresters were getting hung up, spinning tyres and smoking clutches. Then I got cocky and tackled that puddle. Turns out it was quite deep. I drove in at moderate speed (low first), got halfway through, the car floated, water poured in, the car sank and stalled. The seat cushions were very soon underwater.
Climbed out the window, entertained the group by lying on the bonnet to attach a towing strap. Dragged it out and we parked up for lunch. I pulled the spark plugs, only one was wet. Cranked it, spraying warm brown water a good couple of meters. Put the plugs back in, tried to start it, it sounded like it was firing, but there was a horrible knocking noise.
Got a tow truck home, and now I'm stripping the interior to hose it out.
It has been suggested that I flush the oil and see if it comes good, but I don't thin kthat could make much of a difference.
And in other news, my second car sold yesterday. Perfect timing.
Dane.
