Removing fixed glass (L series)

Post by GOD » Sun Jun 21, 2009 3:01 am

What's the best way to remove the glass from the sides of the boot (between C and D pillars) on an L series? Can it be done without destroying the rubber seal?

I've got some painting to do, and that window has to come out to do it properly.

Thanks,
Dane.

Kalgoorlie at the moment, occasionally northern suburbs of perth. That's nowhere near you is it?

if you mean the side windows on the wagon they come out pretty easy by using a small thin screwdriver you need about 3 to slip in between the rubber and the metal, using one as a lever to force the window out then using the next one to move along a few inches keep repeating till window pops out, the glass is fairly tough it is toughened not laminated, laminated (like the windscreen is) is very fragile and it is best to cut the seal. you have to be careful not to scratch the paint or it will rust.
however I need to remove the glass on the tailgate of my L series and this does not seem to work as the glass is a very tight fit, what is the recommended method for that?
