03 Impreza Remote Key Problem

Hi just hoping someone can help me.

My remote key stops working when the weather turns cold. The last 2 weeks its been a bit chilly in the mornings and the remote has stopped working. Same thing happened last winter. I changed the battery which only helped in the short term, so I took it to Subaru and they cleaned out the remote, which only worked for the short term as well. But over Summer it has been working fine.

Any idea what it could be? I told Subaru last year that it only happened when it was cold, but they had no explanation.
