keep loosing keypad code when i remove battery
Hi Guys,
Just a quick one, i know that when you remove the battery you loose the pin code and you have to go to Subaru to put it back, but in the past i have removed only the negative terminal without any probs..??
what is proper procedure for removing the battery without loosing the pin code, or can i only remove the nagative...??? or does the key have to be in the ignition when doing so, what a pain so far its happened twice within the past two months...

There is a way to get around the keypad when this happens.
The best way tho, is to plug a battery into your ciggy lighter so you have some power still running to the car wile you swap over.

Some lighter plugs only work when the key is switched on, so you may have to have the key in as well to do that.
When you unplug either side of the battery you will lose power. For electrons to flow they need somewhere to go.
I'm not sure what this code you speak of is for but can you just get the code from the Subaru guys and then put it in yourself when you loose power?

Yea its a pain in the a55 but subaru wont give out master codes to any one as a security measure, the keypad modules in thoes things(WRX i asume) are a pos, infact the whole system is a pos cos its not a genuine factory fitted system, its fitted when they get into the country, and is made by a company under licence for subaru

The only thing is that when ever you install a new electrical component into the car E.g air flow meter you must disconnect the negative for the car to except the new part (so the engine light goes away) i have done this before when i first purchased the car...?? just wondering if the keypad alarm has a lithium battery inside that may have gone flat..??

na they run off a power supply from the main module, if you dont wanna disconect the battery you can just take it to the dealer and get them to clear the code with the SSMII (Subaru Select Monitor 2)
