So Help me god , 5 15" Pugs for 300 ...
I don't think I can refuse this and someone would surely buy them off me if I no longer had a use for them later .
Biting finger nails off at the elbow - to do or not to do .......
Thoughts , cheers A .

Peugeot 505 I believe , just have to organise pics and get assurance they come with at least four sets of wheel nuts and the center caps .
Not certain if they have any rubber on them either . Pugs tended to run high profile tyres on 14's and 15's like 65-75 it seems .
From interstate , sorry won't divulge until I make my final decision and land them . Once I do all shall be revealed . Hate being beaten to the finish having dug up some more gold .
Cheers A .
Also have to make 300% certain they are not those heathenous metric horrors .

Just be aware that if you go to a 15 and that high a profile tyre it will do evil things to your speedo reading and you may not like the new gearing.
Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

I wouldn't use those tyres , more likely a 185 or 195 possibly a 195/60/15 .
I'll need to speak to my tyre people and see whats common in profiles because volume sales means cheaper tyres in good brands/compounds .
An American Miata (MX5) site has a good tyre size calculator I use .
For those that have used them on an L Series , are these 15" Pugs hub centric or do they locate only on the studs ?
Obviously their offset must suit L/MY and I don't hear people say they rub on anything they shouldn't . My car is std height BTW .
Deal not landed yet but soon I hope .
Possibly a set of RX 13" wheels with new tyres up for grabs .
Cheers A .

I think that you'll find you'll be looking at a 195/50/15discopotato03 wrote:I wouldn't use those tyres , more likely a 185 or 195 possibly a 195/60/15 .

One important thing I need to know , do they sit too far out ie beyond the bodywork on an L sedan ?
Most common 15" tyre profile is 205/65 and 195/60 .
From Miata.net . Note does imperial and metric measures .
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
............... 185/70/13 .....195/60/15
Side Wall .. 219.5 ......... 117.0
Radius ...... 294.6 ........ 307.5
Diameter ... 589.2 ........ 615.0
Circ ......... 1851.0 ....... 1932.1
Revs/Km ... 540.0 ........ 518.0
The difference is just over 1" diameter or 1/2" radius .
The calcs say that when speedo reads 100 km/h true speed would be 104.4 , or 110 at 114.84 .
Cheers A .

I'm surprised , no has these wheels on an L Series ?
I was hoping someone had done this mod before and could tell me if they fit around the L's locating lugs and stay inside the gards .
I know MYs have different offset wheels to Ls and a narrower track so these wheels would be further inside the bodywork than an L Series .
I would not be at all surprised to find that the diameter of the Ls locating lugs is too large for them meaning the center hole of the pugs may need boring to suit .

Found pics on USMB , just fit back and front on MY and back of an L Series .
Fronts they stick out a little but the Americans like to run 205/55/15's on them and they bag out on the rim a bit .
I think I could juggle 195/60's and if push came to shove use those adjustable strut tops I have to pull the tops in a little .
Can anyone tell me how thick the centers of thes alloy Pug 15s are as in could anything be skimmed off them to get them a tad more inwards ?
Really scratching but what is available for L's in the way of front flares ?
Cheers A .

God answered , performance AWDs really hate any extra scrub offset so this idea ends here - function is everything .
Rally mentors thinking .
If the offset changes markedly (outwards) you get all sorts of bump steer problems because AWD generally means FrWD + RWD so the car pulls itself around by its front hubs .
Therefore if the distance between the center of the tyres contact patch and where the center line of the strut would touch the ground if it were long enough increases external forces get a mechanical advantage with which to exert force back through the steering .
Gee pointed it out today that WHEN the CrossBred kit goes in I'll have Lib/Impreza style knuckles/hub offset AND factory wheels so literally a factory solution .
He also tells me that in a recent Zoob er Zoom mag there was a souped up L with My00 Rex wheels on it and everything fitted perfectly under the front guards . If anyone has access to it could they scan and post or show a link ?
Lastly , Pug wheels are early RWD offset wheels . From my factory L 87 WSM all L's had fully 55mm of wheel offset with sounds more like late zero scrub offset FWD type geometry - less tugging at the tiller when spinning the fronts in FWD cars .
Damn damn damn , those 15's look too good - shame about their offset .
I'll find out what it is in time .
For you vultures I know one Brumby driver who gets the first right of refusal , if he does I'll be posting the location of those 5 rims .
Cheers A .

The answer is yes, a 15" rim will stick out past the body work. Its very minimal however technically you can be fined for it (i was many many years ago).discopotato03 wrote:One important thing I need to know , do they sit too far out ie beyond the bodywork on an L sedan ?
