I think someone needs to give proton some competition might as well be subaru but our market (australia) is to small for them to care!

Why these blokes didn't just get a Baja in the first place is beyond me even if they modified it instead. But I agree if they were to build one from scratch why not build a two door!

daveosubi wrote:El Freddo , I think your referring to the showpony performance utes like the hsv maloo and fpv ones. Some of them are only around 350-450 kg's, i think the fords carry a bit more than the holdens but not much. Id love to throw a ladder in one and scratch the metallic duco or the armor all'd never been used before plactic tray liner :)
I think you will find that the fords will actually carry a bit less the XR6's used to have a payload of about 250kgs by the time you put in a driver passenger and a tank of fuel! And the tray backs are better than they used to be a shade over a ton dry weight cab chassis so about 600kg compared to the holden tray back which was a tonne and a half dry weight but I cant remeber if that included tray or not I'd say that was cab chassis as well, Most of the performance models though have sport suspension which can't be tuned for such a wide weight differential.

I think the tray is too small, same as the Baja. A single-cab Baja would have been awesome.

Still nifty, though.
Living in Canada now. Looking at all these SVXs for sale...
I'VE GOT AN OUTBACK AGAIN WOOT
