YES! That's probabily the easiest way to destroy a box, or at the very least your low range...

Also, it low range its best to do a 3 point turn to look after the low range gears, regardless of the surface you're on...

Driveing in a straight line in low range, on a sealed road won't cause the gearbox to bind unless the tyres are different sizes.

But abslutely dropping it any time sure as hell won't do it any favours! :p

just thort ide ask while we were taking about damaging gearboxs
ive only done it a couple of times and wasent sure (didnt think it was good for it)
but funny takeing of next to a commadore or skylicer

If you have larger tyres you can use low range in 2wd (with modded levers) with no problems. The low range gear is very tough, and because where it is in the gearbox you'll more likely break first gear or the 4wd gear using low range where you shouldn't as they will take the brunt of the torque, not the low range gears.

How do I say this...good clutch control will give you a far better launch than "just dumping it" ever will. Plus it'll be a LOT kinder to your entire driveline.
