Family outing pics

Post by last celtic warrior » Sun Jan 25, 2009 7:37 pm

Since the other guys haven't put anything up yet (as far as I've noticed), I thought I'd post a couple pics of our recent Mothar Mountain escapade. Everyone (especially Rick) was having a go at me trying to convince me to put a manual in my car instead of the auto. Funny thing was, Rick was the one that ran into trouble with a broken clutch cable on his "MANUAL"... Admittedly it was easily fixed and didn't stop him getting back home under his own power.

My auto would have done a lot better if I had more power available in front of it. There was a very steep grade (which the photos can't portray) that Rick sailed up quite fine, and the other two manuals would have done the same if Dale's car didn't have a dicky fuel pump that wouldn't pump up to the motor when the car was on such a steep angle (that problem is fixed too now). My car wouldn't go up the steepest bit of the hill even though the tyres were clawing at the dirt without slipping much at all, and the auto was conveying what power was available really well to the wheels. Fitting one of the turbo systems I have to one of my spare motors and dropping it in will hopefully see the auto wagon clamber its way to the top of that trail easily enough. Once that's proven itself, then the final custom turbo motor will be going in.

Everyone enjoyed this outing and it'll be great to have another Subie or two in the family convoy in the coming trips, although I think four blue(ish) MY series Subies thundering through the forest tailing each other was quite impressive and heaps of fun...
