Auto Transmisson leaks into transaxle

Post by stephendean » Sat Dec 20, 2008 4:46 pm

Has anyone had this problem? The auto leaks into the transaxle through the seal. Now this is a new seal, so I am wondering if the transmission can build up enough pressure to pump fluid into the transaxle. The transaxle of course fills up and then pours out the filler and just noticed it also seems to be leaking where they join. The car is an 89 "L" series. Any ideas etc most welcome. I just hate appearing dnmb at the mechanics and also trying to save money as I am not earning anything until last week of Jan at the moment.

Cheers,

Stephen

so you have had the box apart and replaced both of the back to back seals?

this is a pretty common thing to happen in the EJ autos. dunno about EA ones though. There are 2 seals you need to replace. It is a fairly major job

My GLTA auto has red leak from axle seals yet diff was filled with yellow 80W90. Have treated both with a white bottle of leak sealer for transmissions lucas? The power steer version of same brand has helped my power steer fluid seals hoping it does same for all tranny seals involved
