1 Fried spark plug

Post by Morcs » Thu Nov 13, 2008 5:10 pm

The other night on my to work give it a boot full of boost past a largish truck all sweet held it on to grab another truck in the same move.

Got off the freeway onto the roundabouts it wouldn't run properly and hold over 10 pound boost.

Swapped around coil packs problem stayed were it was ordered new plug pulled old one out and it had eroded away the electrode.

The thing is it comes and goes not the fuel pressure as it has a nice 36-38 psi pressure.
Traced it back to an injector.

It has a grey top does anybody know the part number to these.

its off a 93 liberty turbo. EJ 20g

best to get a secondhand one cleaned and flowtested and use that as a replacement. New is too expensive I'm pretty sure. FROG may pipe up and offer the part number and price :)

Found an injector at Cardiff Automotive so sweet i thought, chucked it into the ultrasonic cleaner at work. Didnt have a way to test it at work so i fitted it yesterday anyway. While i had to get to number 1 pot had to remove the resivour and hose noticed that during all that the water level was low and overflow bottle was full.

Filled it up with water etc (it was cold)

Started at cold all sweet with new plug and another injector until it warmed up then it dropped the same pot duh. Watched the water and i think it starts to miss when the thermostat opens.

Tried again this morning same again.

Guessing it has done a head gasket or cracked/corroded the head etc.

sorry forgot to mention that you should think about renewing all the rubber O rings around the injectors, this can make a HUGE difference with these motors. Also use a proper rubber grease when re-fitting and be careful not to pinch them.
