I'll learn to shut my mouth?

Post by yarney » Wed Oct 01, 2008 3:37 pm

Last week i was talking about how i haven't had a flat with my Super Trippers first set had no flats this set half worn none until Sunday:mad:

I got a flat on the club run Sunday got it fixed Tuesday arvo just before mates and i from work went wheeling i left the spare on as i didn't have time to change it.

I was half way down this steep rocky hill about to get about 1 meter of air under my back wheel when you guessed it pop a tear in the side wall:mad: 2 in 2 days same wheel not happy Jan.

Sounds like that tyre no like you any more...

I hate tearing the side wall - I currently only have roadies on my L that get me around off road okay... Last year I tore a side wall in a new tyre that rendered it useless.

Good thing you left the spare at home :p

Cheers

I snagged the side wall on the rear wheel of a tractor, thought it was a throw away. They just pumped in a few sticky things haha.
Completely different thing tho eh...

Any damage to the sidewall cant be repaired by law(well in ACT anyway) - although some places do however they offer no guarantee for the repair. I poked a hole in a set of 10 inch A008 Yokos for the mini - a screw went thru the tread but nicked the belt on the sidewall - was a throw-away and I had no choice - they slashed and binned it(and $125 for a new one:mad:)

Its a bugger but better to get new ones. If the sidewall heats up and lets go - catastrophic failure and probably a spectacular crash - besides they tend to not hold air if the sidewall is buggered in any way(It flexes a lot...)

Bad luck though - better for the future...

I had a good experience with mine I always used to run BFG's (thicker sidewalls) And never had a puncture in three or four years of running them untill one day you geussed it I got a gash in the sidewall not right through but enough for a slow leak, I took it into the tyre place and they put on a brand new tyre and only charged me for the tread I had used on the old tyre and then sent the old one off to their wholesaler. I would still be using this company but they have changed ownership twice since!
