how to get better fuel economy ?

Post by brenton » Sun Sep 28, 2008 2:01 pm

hey guys i have just got my hands on another '81 wagon, i filled it up the other day and i have used what seems to be on the gauge about nearly a quarter and i have only gone 80k's lol ?
i have read about the webber carby swap, is it possible to take of most of the vacuum references to the standard carby or is the carby design just not for economy, and i have to do the 32 36 swap for any sort of fuel saving. ?
i have a 28x36 webber aswell anyone run one ?
cheers brenton

Hey Brenton,

Welcome to the forum!

With your fuel economy - use a tank and FILL UP to the top, record how many litres of fuel used and how many km's travelled... This will give you a much more accurate reading of fuel useage. My L's guage will be on empty yet I know I have another 120km in the tank if driven nicely. And after 150km it will be on the half mark and stay there for another 100km without moving.

Its a subaru quirk.

Cheers

Im running a stock ea81 and set mine to 10deg running premium, runs fine with no pinging. Also temp is fine with reports that they can run warmer. I get 10l/100 kays so im happy with that!
