Some one make a clear list on how to do a lift ( liberty

Post by seagull » Thu Feb 09, 2006 11:15 pm

I have found a lot of misleading infomation on how to do a 75mm lift to my liberty ( wagon )

this in mind my liberty is a GX with air ride

I have made my own lift kit spacers & strut top mounts
purchased new rear 2 wheel drive struts & king springs ( thicker wire as to get my tow rate up )

I was told you can use RS front stuts & springs ( needing to give the lower spring mount a hit to clear the tyre .215x70 r16

I have found this is bull shit as to get the camber correct on the front the spring hits the fire wall inwards of the motor bay .

So whats the go for the front guys ?

One good thing I found a place in Kewdale that sells just about all of the bolts for the job .

most of my rear arms the bushes were not looking good , so I have made adjustable control arms with rose joints x6 , making a new control arm from body to wheel hub .This was longer and with the rose joint allows for no body cuting / bashing .

I would just like a clear reply as to where I go for now with the front .

My front stut is sitting under the car with the top plate ready to be tack welded in place . so I need some direction .

Looking through some of the posts I need out back front struts 96>98 can I use my rs springs & top plates ? > urgent please need to go shopping !

mate you have camber adjustment on your front wheels via the strut bolt. are you taking that into account aswell?

For your lift kit strut tops, the general formula from what i remember is 7mm offset per inch of lift.

Why are you so against taking to your inner guards with a big hamer? sounds like you have modified just about everything else on the car anways, your not going to hurt anything by giving the inner guards a tap inwards.

RS struts are definately not ideal for the front of an offroader. You want AWD GX struts at a minimum (will clear your 28's) or if you want the extra lift go for a set of outback struts.

Both liberty's i have lifted had to have the inner guards hammered in front and rear. Just do it - its nto a big deal.
