Headlights playing up...any ideas?
Headlights playing up...any ideas?
Hi,
I've got a 2000 Outback V6 and (bizarrely) the main headlights have decided to go on the blink. The high beams work fine, but when I dip them, the main lights don't work. I've pulled out the fuses and they seem fine, with none burnt out. Managed to get home using the fog lights, but if anyone can offer some suggestions on how to fix this, I'd really appreciate it!
Cheers,
Gus

Let's see
No mods. It was an "all of a sudden" thing. So, the globes are probably not the thing. I've checked all the connections and they're fine. What do the relays do? Could you give me an idea of how much does it cost to replace one?

+1 for the globes. Both are gone and it was "an all of a sudden thing" - My mate's car did this too, the high beam worked fine but there was no low beam from either light. It turned out that for what ever reason both the low beams blew at the same time. After replacing the globes, for the first time since owning the vehicle, there's been no reoccurance of this problem...Gusburu wrote:It was an "all of a sudden" thing. Check your globes and let us know what their condition is - don't touch the glass with your hands and if you do wipe them with a tissue or cloth before putting them back in.
