Why do people list cars that they have owned in their Signature line?

I guess to show abit of their car history to people, can't see it doing any harm. Although in my case my signature would be far too long.

...And me
Seems a little weird, but I find it interesting to know what other members have owned, and as Brumbyrunner suggested, it could give a hint to maybe how extensive their knowledge is.
Although I wouldn't totally agree with judging a person on their knowledge from the amount of cars they have owned.

I've talked to many people who have owned well over 20 different cars and claim to have worked on them all who seem to have no clue about engines, gearboxes, suspension etc. Its as much of a guide as a post count which is useless imho.

"and this is better than listing previous cars because" It says what I am doing with my cars atm. Sure it doesn't give a link to the thread but people can find the post easy
It's also only 1 line not 8+ lines which means it takes up almost no room at all and doesn't get in the way

just out of interest is all
Been in subie community / club for 10 years now in SA...you get know the people and their cars.
Also gives an insight into other projects / interests people may have - for me classic motor X, others EV.
Seems also quite common practice in other forums - be it computers (usually current specs though) all the way thru implantable defibs support groups (how many joules / frequency of discharge).
great thing you can choose to list or not list - is up to the username
