A 3.9 ratio D/R 5sp out of a L series is the best low range you'll get.
The rear diff in your car has the ratio on a sticker on the back of it.
Or with a 8" or more lift you can use a older Nissan Navara transfer case and have dual low range.

But then you lose 4x4, And a locked centre is better then a 4.11 diff imhoSuby Wan Kenobi wrote:or build a Liberty box in an L case

Well I can. But 4wding isn't always the same I guess. Some places are harder then others and some people prefer the easier stuff.

Not saying he or anyone takes the easy way out. Just saying I used to follow my Brother in his 4runner with front and rear lockers with 35x12.5 MTZ's and that is not exactly the easy stuff. Theres no way my Brumby could do a lot of what his 4runner did with the 4x4 box (trust me I tried most things) and the AWD box made it harder.vincentvega wrote:dave's lib doesnt prefer "the easier stuff"
I don't like using lots of rpm climbing up rocks and that, so I guess maybe thats why no locked centre didn't work well for me. Most of the time I used to keep my EJ22 under 2500rpm on the tough stuff.
I have bits of an old Liberty box, but my 5sp L boxes have plans so can't help you sorry.

ok so finally got my 2nd box in, while i was at it i replace the 2 inner cv boots that were split (got pinched inside the cup at full angle... they were crappy stiff boots anyways, they are now the nice flexible replacements...
next will be to pull the other one apart and see what went on in there lol...
