I've got a spare dot com hosted... I'm happy to donate it for image hosting

Edit: This thread is now pretty much redundant. Visit this thread instead for more information. subaru.pistonaddicts.com is now up and running.

I've got a dot com that I'm not using. It was going to be for a little project a couple of years ago but I never got around to doing it.

Since I'm still paying for it and it has a few gigs of space to use, would ausubaru members be interested in using it as a dedicated image host?

It'll give everyone an account and manager for there photos and videos. Videos would only be able to be smallish... maybe under 10megs (Will double check it). Photos are easily sorted out and have the usual Cut 'n' Paste url with the "[img]yoururlhere.com[/img]" generated automatically.

It may as well go to some use, 'cause I want to keep the domain and the monthly cost is pretty cheap for the hosting.

At least this way, people can just go to their own online gallery and grab the url from their own accounts. probably more reliable than imageshack too.

A very generous offer and some may take you up on that idea. We do already have a free image hosting area in our own gallery.

Cool... Nothing wrong with good ol Coppermine! Not a fan of it's interface though... but it definately does the job.

I've just got 10gig of space and 300gig of bandwidth a month doing nothing. So, have plenty of space and bandwidth for this forums usage. Video's that people might not like uploading to youtube SHOULD be able to be thrown on up on my gallery... not 100 percent sure yet.

I'll set it up and those that wish to use it or look at it are free to do so... should be up and running in a few hours... plus a dinner break maybe. ;)

Have had heaps of issues with my ISP tonight... almost there though.

Videos should be enabled shortly. Image gallery is up.

I'll post the link as soon as I've written up all the relevant content.

It's up and running! YAY!

After a lot of unforseen issues with my ISP and my CMS It now seems to be running smoothly.

Video's are not enabled yet as my Hosting company has a file size limit in a configuration file I can't touch yet. Hopefully that will get sorted out asap.

Anyway.... here's some of the features of the site as it is now as a registered user.

- Image gallery with BBcode automatically generated for you
- Ausubaru is in a frame below the gallery so you can simply cut and paste you're code from the one window. Saves having to repeatedly change windows/tabs.
- Create your own catagories (up to 10)
- 200 image limit per user
- Automatic resizing of images to 800x600 (perfect for forum posts)
- Image size limit of 2meg (on upload)
- Batch uploading VIA ZIP file (This is automatic)
- Instant Messaging between registered users
- User Profile (Very simple at the moment)
- Polls (Currently: Whats the best suby)
- Subaru News (Only one article - Feel free to submit via email/PM)

Whats coming - TO DO List ASAP:
- FAQ/Help needs to be written out
- Subaru News articles added
- Video's sorted out
- Gallery and profile integration
- Links to other suby sites of interest
- Logo and template (It's a little bare bones at the moment)
- Live chatting
- probably a load more

Heres the link:
subaru.pistonaddicts.com

I'll be logged in as Admin for the next couple of days... so if you have any issue PM me from there or if you have problems with the system you can get me here.

Enjoy.

Ben.
